Matthew Stafford and the LA Rams became the first NFC team to clinch a playoff berth this season after beating the Detroit Lions 41-34 in Week 15 on Sunday. Rams QB Stafford went 24 of 38 for 368 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, leading his team to its 11th win.

Stafford, who won the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2022, has an opportunity to add another Super Bowl win to his CV this season. However, FS1 analyst Nick Wright has questioned whether Stafford, 37, will make the Pro Football Hall of Fame after he hangs up his cleats.

“No matter what happens in this postseason, if he (Stafford) wins MVP, he’s a Hall of Famer,” Wright said on the “Dan Patrick Show” on Monday. “Like, if he has a Super Bowl Championship plus a league MVP, he’s just going to be a Hall of Famer. Now, if he doesn’t win MVP and they win the Championship, then he’ll be a Hall of Famer that way as well.

“But if somehow (Josh) Allen runs him down for MVP and they (Rams) get clipped in a brutal NFC playoffs, then his Hall of Fame resume becomes very thin in a way that I don’t necessarily think is fair. I think he’s only like a two-time Pro Bowler, has never come close to an MVP.”

Stafford is in contention to win the MVP this season. The Rams QB has recorded 3,722 passing yards and a league-leading 37 touchdowns to go with five interceptions.

However, Stafford will face competition for the MVP award from Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen and New England Patriots signal-caller Drake Maye.
