This week’s episode of WWE NXT saw a massive title match botch. The unexpected mishap, reportedly, has now turned several plans to dust. Now, the Stamford-based promotion will need to make several changes to the stories of multiple stars after Thea Hail dethroned Blake Monroe for the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

As reported by Fightful Select, Thea Hail’s victory over Blake Monroe was unintentional. The former AEW star could only manage to get her hand up instead of her shoulder, which resulted in her defeat. This resulted in visible confusion and a delay in playing Hail’s music.

Monroe was initially supposed to retain her belt, and the creative team had plans for her and Hail that were interconnected with several other WWE Superstars. The report claimed that adjustment plans would be put in place immediately after the episode.

The creative team was ready with several things in motion for the upcoming two weeks, but will now have to change things. However, the report stated that so far, it couldn’t be confirmed who would take the heat for Hail’s unexpected win.

Absolute chaos on WWE NXT when Thea Hail pinned Blake Monroe

Thea Hail got the win owing to a regular pinfall attempt, where she followed Mark Henry’s World’s Strongest Slam with a Springboard Senton. The referee immediately looked unsure of what to do, and the bell was rung after a few seconds.

Hail and Monroe looked confused as well, and the sound team backstage played the music of the former AEW star after hearing the bell. They stopped the music, following which the referee handed the NXT Women’s North American Championship to Hail.

Right after, Hail’s music was played, and the ring announcer declared the Chase U wrestler the new NXT Women’s North American Champion. It remains to be seen how WWE will counter this sudden turn of events and what’s next for Blake Monroe.
